I’m Richard Platt. I live and work in Hastings Old Town, on the southeast coast of Britain.
I started making stained glass images when I retired in 2018. Previously I was a writer: I wrote mostly children’s illustrated information books which were published internationally by Walker Books, Dorling Kindersley, Oxford University Press, Franklin Watts and others. You can see a website about my books by clicking here.
For me, working in stained glass represents a return to the visual arts, not a new beginning. I studied graphic design at Leeds Polytechnic, but I never made my design skills into a career.
My work has been shown in the following group exhibitions
England’s Green and Pleasant Land, Lucy Bell Gallery, St Leonards on Sea, May-June 2022
British Glass Biennale, The Glasshouse, Stourbridge August-October 2022
Sussex Contemporary, i360 Brighton October 2022
